Jeez, what is it with parents?!?!
My dad gave me permission to make Xigbar's Sharpshooters, and then I asked him if we could make them out of wood so they'd hold up longer, and he said maybe.
So I went and told my mom, and she's like "What are you talking about?" So I showed her the reference sheet for them, and she totally flipped.
Started ranting about no weapons allowed, even if they are for a costume.
Later I asked if I could get some cardboard and poster board and some sharpies to make Vexen's shield. Her reply to that was "Okay, that seems fine."
Luckily I didn't tell her Vexen's shield IS a weapon. She'd murder me.
I'm glad the next AWA con is about a year away. Because I'm either going to be Xigbar or Vexen, and I am not going as either without their weapon.
Probably going as Vexen. And my friend will be going as Demyx, of course.
Until we can get some foam board and stuff, she's gonna have a cardboard sitar. If she still has it when we go to AWA, we'll be the cardboard weapon twins.
